U.S. border officials impose fines on travelers with undeclared food

Border authorities across the world, as well as in the United States, charge tourists

who carry food from other countries. These breaches will result in a hefty penalties.

In one example, a traveler flying from Indonesia to Darwin Airport in Australia was fined

$1,874 after investigators discovered two McMavens sausages and croissant meat in their luggage.

The huge charge was levied by Australia due to an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Indonesian cattle a month earlier.

A few days earlier, an Australian lady was fined US$1,844 for failing to declare
