on permanent migration Australia raises cap

To help with massive workforce shortages, Australia has raised its cap on permanent migration.

It will employ up to 195,000 people in the current financial year, an increase of 35,000.

Many sectors have been affected by the pandemic and Australia’s strict border policies.

The government states that workers from China, India, and the UK are required to fill these positions.

There are over 480,000 open jobs in the country.

However, with unemployment at a near 50-year low employers are having trouble filling the gaps.
