Colder weather is favorable to the coronavirus. As summer transitions to fall, experts in infectious
diseases are cautiously optimistic about the spread of the covid-19 virus this winter and into the fall will not be
as severe as it was in the first two years of the pandemic. Coronavirus scenarios from various research teams,
discussed recently with officials from the federal government suggest steady or decreasing hospitalizations by the early autumn.
The scenarios suggest an opportunity for late fall increase. A new strain remains the main wildcard.
However, several factors -- such as the recent approval of boosters reformulated and the development of immunity
to the latest strain of virus -- might thwart some of the cold-season-related spread experts believe.
