Coastal storm dampens wildfire and reduces heat wave in California

Officials planned for flooding from the storm in coastal and mountain locations.

The massive Fairview Fire, which is located around 75 miles (121 kilometres) southeast of Los Angeles, could expand due to winds.

The fire has put more than 10,000 homes and other buildings in danger.

One of California's hottest and longest heat waves has already occurred in September.

A 97-year-old record was broken on Tuesday with an all-time high of 46.7 C.

Some residents welcomed inside this break from the extremely hot temperatures.
