NEW YORK (AP) -The New York Times reports that Barbara Ehrenreich, the muckraking journalist,
author and activist who, in works such like "Nickel and Dimed" and "Bait and Switch" challenged the conventional
wisdom about class, religion, and the concept of the American ideal, has passed away at the age of 81.
Ehrenreich passed away on Thursday at the age of 59 in Alexandria, Virginia, according to her son,
author as well as journalist Ben Ehrenreich. She suffered an attack of the brain.
"She was, she made clear, ready to go," Ben Ehrenreich tweeted on Friday. "
She was never much for thoughts and prayers, but you can honor her memory by loving one another, and by fighting like hell."
